As ENERGY STAR® points out, there are two costs to every appliance - the cost to buy it and take it home, and the cost of the energy and water to run it. ENERGY STAR®-rated appliances use about 25 percent less energy than those manufactured before 1994. - GE ENERGY STAR® qualified refrigerators are at least 15 percent more energy efficient to operate than refrigerators that are not ENERGY STAR® qualified and at least 50% more energy efficient than refrigerators 10 years ago.
- The decrease in greenhouse gas emissions over the life of all the GE ENERGY STAR® qualified refrigerators that were sold in 2005 is equivalent to eliminating more than 71,000 cars from US roads for an entire year.
- Choosing a new ENERGY STAR dishwasher instead of a regular dishwasher saves an average of $120 over the life of the product.
